“My interest in retirement saving began with my interest in tax policy. A critical feature of the savings landscape in the United States is the role of tax policy in encouraging various kinds of retirement arrangements. In my research on retirement issues, tax-related questions have continued to attract my interest. I have also become interested, however, in the question of how households formulate and carry out their financial plans, particularly in retirement.”
