Zsófia Benedek graduated as a Biologist and Biology teacher at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. She is also a Bilingual Biology Teacher in English. She received her PhD in 2011 in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Taxonomy at the Eötvös Loránd University. She obtained a second master degree in Regional and Environmental Economics at the Corvinus University of Budapest (2010), after which she spent two years as a research assistant, then an assistant professor at the Department of Environmental Economics and Technology. She joined the Institute of Economics, Centre for Economic and Regional Studies (CERS, formerly part of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences) in October 2012. Her primary academic interest is local food systems and short food supply chains, with a special focus on the environmental impact of these systems.
