Iván Major graduated from the Budapest University of Economics in 1973. In 1983 he received his CSc, and in 1996 his DSc degree. He has been working at the Institute of Economics since 1973, since 1996 as a senior advisor. From 1999 he has been affiliated with the University of Veszprém. He was the head of Department of Economics and that of the Ph.D. School in Economics (up to 2003). He has also tought at various foreign universities (Stockholm School of Economics, University of California San Diego, CEU Graduate School of Business). His research field covers corporate governance, company restructuring, economic performance in CEE, and the regulation of public utilities.
