Short professional bio

András Simonovits was born in Budapest (Hungary) in 1946. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Mathematics at the Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest, Hungary) in 1970 and 1976, respectively. Later he received a Ph.D. and Doctor of Economic Sciences in 1982 and 1991, at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences, respectively.
His permanent affiliation is the Institute of Economics, Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1970 and since 2000 is a Full Professor at the Budapest University of Technology in a half position. He has been teaching and working at various Hungarian and foreign universities.
He has published about 50 papers and book chapters and three books in English and has been co-editor for various Festschrifts. His research subjects range from Priority Queuing, Linear Models, Decentralized Control, Macromodels of the Socialist Economies, Overlapping Generations and Pension Systems. Recently his main research interest is Modeling Pension System, especially designing good pension rules for flexible retirement.
He has been participating at various domestic and international conferences as listener, lecturer and member of the Program Committee.
